The Meteor Ireland Music Awards are launching a new category for up and coming Irish acts in 2010. The main difference between this award for "The Most Promising New Artist For 2010" and the annual "Hope of...." award is that it is for unsigned acts only. That and the winner will receive a massive prize including a live performance at Oxegen and a day of recording in the country's premiere recording studio, Grouse Lodge.

The Meteor Awards are looking for the best original song from an individual or group, who is currently not signed to any record label (small independents excluded) or publishing house, giving ambitious unsigned acts the chance to make a break into the music industry. If you think you've got what it takes to win the award, simply upload a video of yourself or your band performing an original song at www.themeteors.ie. The public will be able to vote for their top ten artists before a leading industry panel will select the top five acts to become the official nominees for the Most Promising New Artist 2010 award. Evaluation of the songs will be based on composition, lyrics, melody and originality.

The full prize is as follows:
• Live performance on the New Band Stage at Oxegen 2010 www.oxegen.ie
• One day of recording in Grouse Lodge Recording Studios www.grouselodge.com
• One day of Mastering in Masterlabs www.masterlabs.net
• 150 copies of the CD single
• Designed CD sleeve and photo shoot with top celebrity photographer Barry McCall www.mccallstudio.com
• Radio/PR distribution

The closing date for entry is January 11th 2010. Visit www.themeteors.ie for more details.

The line up and nominees for the Meteor Ireland Music Awards will be officially announced in early January 2010.
