It's easy to have a permanent frown etched upon your face on grim and rainy days like this, but all thoughts of just exactly how wet my jeans are were almost instantly forgotten as soon as I checked my sources for this morning's movie news. It appears as though Columbia Pictures is getting serious about putting together a new Ghostbusters movie. Ghostbusters, as you're all well aware, is probably the best film ever made* and it's been 19 years since we've seen them in the admittedly poor sequel. The word is that the original cast of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson would return and that would be written by The US Office exec-producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. The original movie was directed by Ivan Reitman, from an Aykroyd and Ramis script but it remains to be seen if they would have much creative input this time around. There have been rumours of a new Ghostbusters flick for years now but it was Bill Murray who usually vetoed any production as he didn't want to sully his character with a half-assed sequel, but hopefully all parties will agree on this one as it's been far too long since we've seen Peter Venkman on the big screen.
