Bear Grylls latest TV show state side sees him taking A-list celebrity into the wildest and most remote locations around the world for a weekend to see how they... well, survive basically. His first show called Running Wild with Bear Grylls premiered this week and featured Bad Neighbours star Zac Efron who joined Grylls in the Catskill Mountains for some worm eating, climbing down cliffs and some good old fashioned man to man chats.

It has been widely reported that Efron has had a couple stints in rehab battling drug problems but it's rare he talks about it publicaly in any shape way or form, with interviewers usually avoiding the topic altogether. However, the actor clearly bonded with survivalist Bear Grylls on their adventure together and soon found himself opening up about these troubled times. He told Grylls; "The challenging part was never the work - that was never it. It was sort of the 'in-between work'. The social aspects outside it - I mean, everywhere you go to a certain extent there is press in some form."

He went on to say; "I mean, whether you're going out to an event, where you're supposed to be out with friends, there will be press there; if you are leaving your house to go to the grocery store, there will be press there. It can be everywhere, and it's, you know, it can be confusing. You spend a lot of time in your house going crazy. You know, pretty soon you need a social lubricant."

Adding; "Once I needed that, it became to go anywhere. It was getting to the point where I was caring less about the work and waiting more for the weekend, you know what I mean? Where I couldn't wait to go out, you know, and sort of let loose and have fun."

No clip online yet of the above conversation but you can take a look at the lads getting up close and personal climbing down a cliff together.
