She's been a star in our eyes for many a year at this stage, but now it looks as though Ruth Bradley's about to make some serious waves in the United States, after landing the central role in a brand new drama pilot called Horizon.

Love/Hate star Ruth, who has already made a name for herself internationally in films like Grabbers and miniseries such as Titanic: Blood And Steel, has just signed on to take the lead role in a brand new Sci-Fi drama, brought to us by the same executive producer who gave us The Walking Dead. As per Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, Bradley will play Lauren Howl, a World War II FBI secretary, whose husband was killed in action in the South Pacific. When the curious young lady discovers that he may have actually been battling with a spaceship at the time, things get a wee bit complicated.

Ruth's among good company for the pilot, with Boardwalk Empire's Meg Steedle as Lauren's best friend (who just so happens to have a knack for discovering Washington's big secrets), and the one and only Cary Elwes (don't tell me you haven't seen Twister, Kiss The Girls or The Princess Bride) as Max Hartman, a mysterious man who leads a double life in wartime Washington D.C. We actually quite like the sound of that combination, so here's hoping the show is decent enough to be picked up.

Between this and Big Thunder, our Ruth's going from strength to strength. And to think, it seems like only yesterday we were watching her on BBC's The Innocence Project with Luke Treadaway and yer man from What A Girl Wants.
