Ricky Gervais has announced that his The Office sequel, David Brent: Life on the Road will stream exclusively on Netflix, after it has hit Irish cinemas on August 19th.
Gervais made the announcement on Opie Radio.
As he says in the video, the main reason behind the deal seems to be that Gervais is concerned with getting the movie in front of as many eyes as possible. Something he feels would be an easier thing to achieve with Netflix rather than solely through a cinema distribution deal.
It's not the first time Gervais has had his work stream exclusively with the streaming service. His last effort, Special Correspondents was also released on the site back in April.
This could be a brilliant coup for Netflix as The Office has a large following and interest in a new David Brent adventure is expected to be high.
