Malek recently won an Emmy for his role as cerebral drug-addicted hacker Elliot in Mr. Robot, but as happens with interviews, a conversation with Vulture at the Toronto Film Festival veered towards his past roles.

Twelve years ago, Malek appeared on Gilmore Girls as a character named Andy, a Seventh-Day Adventist who was really enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his pastors. It was his first credited TV role.

Malek was clearly not at all impressed with his character on the show, saying he is ‘dead’ to him, and commented that the show has the fastest-talking dialogue of any project he’s ever been on.
