Millie Bobby Brown was unable to hold back the tears during her acceptance speech at the MTV Movie Awards last night.

The Stranger Things star won the Best Actor in a TV Series award for her performance in the Netflix phenomenon.

Brown is the first person to win the award since the award became gender neutral this year.

Emma Watson was the other big winner in the acting stakes, taking home the award for Best Actor in a Movie for her role in Beauty and the Beast. The former Harry Potter star beat of the likes of James McAvoy, Taraji P. Henson and Hugh Jackman to win the award.

Watson described how honoured she was to win the first genderless award.

“MTV’s move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone, but to me it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and that doesn’t need to be separated into two different categories." she said.

“Empathy and the ability to use your imagination should have no limits. This is very meaningful to me.”
