In a world without Jon Stewart's running commentary on politics, we now turn to John Oliver to accurately, and hilariously, summarise the terrifying ridiculousness of world events these days, particularly the decisions made by one President Trump and his team.

Last week the White House found themselves under the microscope once more when Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer compared Syria’s Bashar al-Assad to Hitler, saying: "We didn’t use chemical weapons in World War II. You had someone as despicable as Hitler who didn’t even sink to using chemical weapons."

When asked to clarify the remarks, he stuttered through an explanation saying: "I think when you come to sarin gas, he was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing."

Yeah....

There was then something about 'Holocaust centres' and even more verbal diarrhoea followed when he tried to explain what he meant in statements released after.

It all made for great material for John Oliver's opening on HBO's 'Last Week Tonight' though.
