We're all for celebrity voice cameos in 'The Simpsons' but there's just something oddly unsettling by watching real life people become Simpson-ified.

Jimmy Kimmel received the honour of being the latest entry into the Springfield celebrity hall of fame last night after 'visiting' the town through the power of television.

Kimmel's appearance in the Simpson household comes as the show is about to air its 600th episode in the US this weekend. The episode taking that honour will be the 27th installment in the 'Treehouse of Horror' series, which this year features a Hunger games parody as well as an appearance from Sideshow Bob.

But before all that, Kimmel got a private tour of Springfield from none other Homer J. Simpson himself, which went about as well as anything Homer has ever done.
