Fans of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will be delighted to hear that there’s not too long a wait until the Netflix series (which will have eight episodes) based on the books is here.

The series was previously adapted into a film starring Jim Carrey, Catherine O’Hara and Meryl Streep.

The books follow three orphaned siblings named Violet, Klaus and Sunny whose guardian Count Olaf is trying to get his hands on their inheritance. The trio are passed from guardian to guardian with Olaf eternally in hot pursuit.

Patrick Warburton plays Snicket (which is a pseudonym for author Daniel Handler, who is an executive producer for the show) while Neil Patrick Harris plays Olaf.

Warburton gives an absolutely delightful introduction to the series in the new trailer. Check it out:

A Series of Unfortunate Events is out on Netflix from 13th January 2017.
