The BBC unloaded both their Comic-Con fan favourites in San Diego yesterday, presenting scenes from both the Sherlock Christmas special and Doctor Who's ninth season.

Sherlock executive producers Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue gave fans in San Diego their first look at Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and company traipsing through Victorian London with a brief clip of the upcoming standalone Christmas special. No real plot was given away but seeing Freeman's moustache in action and how the characters we know will behave in their era of origin is enough to have viewers excited for December.

Doctor Who fans on the other hand were treated to a teaser trailer featuring a smattering of clips from various episodes in season nine, including but not limited to an appearance from Game of Thrones' Arya Stark AKA Maisie Williams and Michelle Gomez's Missy/The Master. Basically it was a nerdgasm for all watching.

And seeing as nothing was said of Williams' role apart from that it will be 'surprising', we'll all just have to wait until September when Who returns to see what she gets up to.
