Nicole Kidman and Elisabeth Moss have both done exceptional work on TV so far this year and now they're coming together for the second season of the award-winning 'Top of the Lake' with 'Top of the Lake: China Girl'.

Set for years after the events of 'Top of the Lake', Moss returns as Detective Robin Griffin who this time is teaming up with 'Game of Thrones' star Gwendoline Christie and moving from New Zealand to Sydney, Australia, to solve the mystery of a girl who washes up on Bondi Beach in a suitcase.

Yeah, we didn't say this was going to be nice.

If you're wondering how Nicole Kidman fits in with all that, she plays the adoptive mother of Moss' biological now teenage daughter and we don't think that's not going to resolve itself nicely either.

Here's the official synopsis:

Top of the Lake: China Girl is a crime mystery story that finds Detective Robin Griffin recently returned to Sydney and trying to rebuild her life. When the body of an Asian girl washes up on Bondi Beach, there appears little hope of finding the killer, until Robin realises "China Girl” didn’t die alone. Robin looks to the investigation to restore herself, but her problems are personal. Haunted by a daughter given up at birth, Robin desperately wants to find her, yet dreads revealing the truth of her conception. But her search to discover “China Girl’s” identity will take her into the city’s darkest recesses and closer than she could have imagined to the secrets of her own heart.

'Top of the Lake: China Girl' doesn't have a specific air date yet but you can probably expect it on BBC Two sooner rather than later.
