Fair play EastEnders, they were quick off the mark on this one.
The soap got a reference to the news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement in on last night's episode. Despite being filmed months in advance, the soap threw in a last minute clip of Kathy Beale reacting to the news of the upcoming royal wedding.
The scene was in the cafe as Shakil looked at his phone and read about "some prince bloke marrying some actress". Kathy was quick to react, grabbing the phone and saying, "What? Harry and Meghan?"

It's not the first time EastEnders has filmed last-minute scenes so they appear up to date. The soap has previously made references to the Scottish referendum result as well as England's World Cup exit, Prince George's birth and the death of Nelson Mandela.
