If you're planning on curling up on the couch tonight to escape the cold, bring some tissues if you plan on watching 'First Dates Ireland' because one of the daters has had one hell of a hard life.

68-year-old Dun Laoghaire woman Angie will be sitting down for her date with 75-year-old retired trucker Denis from Drimnagh tonight and sharing her life-story of growing up in an industrial school while her mother was in the Magdalene Laundries.

In this preview clip, Angie opens up about her childhood, saying: "I grew up in Athlone. I had a tough childhood and I was brought up in an industrial school. My mother was raped when she was 16 and had me at 17 and she was put in then to the Magdalene Laundries. She spent 15 years there and I spent my time in the industrial school until I was 14."

"Then I met my mother at 16 for the first time. My mother never knew where I was and I never knew where my mother was. It never leaves you, it never leaves you. Just to think of the suffering that she went through, the suffering that I went through, because she had a baby."

We got our first glimpse of Angie last week in another preview in which she says she's ready and willing to fall in love again having lost her partner 10 years ago.

We really weren't lying about needing those tissues.

'First Dates Ireland' airs tonight at 9.30pm on RTÉ2.
