For soaps fans, Christmas is like, well, eh... Christmas, with countless storylines coming to a head after months of build up, characters returning for some festive cheer, and guaranteed drama filled episodes.

It's no different on the cobbles this year, as Nick and Peter's ongoing feud comes to a head and Bethany's struggle with weight-loss pills leaves her in a bad way, however the most exciting storyline is the return of Toyah Battersby.

Actress Georgia Taylor will be back on the cobbles thirteen years after she departed for pastures new. Toyah will be reunited with her half-sister Leanne (Jane Danson) at Christmas, and while we doubt this formerly troublesome duo will be wreaking as much havoc as they did together back in the nineties, we're sure Corrie's new producer Kate Oates has big plans for them.

"I am delighted that Georgia Taylor has agreed to return to the role of Toyah," Oates said. "She is a talented actress who has had great success since leaving the show in 2003.

"Family relationships are the lifeblood of soap operas and I am excited to explore the drama that Toyah will bring with her to the cobbles. She has led an interesting life away from Weatherfield and she has secrets she has kept even from Leanne.

"Her arrival this Christmas looks set to put the cat amongst the Coronation Street pigeons."

Georgia Taylor said; "I am thrilled to be rejoining my old friends on the cobbles. Coronation Street has always had a place in my heart and I'm delighted to be working again with my good friend Jane Danson and bringing the Battersby sisters back together.

"The scriptwriters and producers have come up with some fantastic, clever and detailed storylines that have inspired me and I feel excited to get started."

What we know so far is that Toyah will return to Coronation Street on Christmas Day telling her sister that her marriage is over as she had an affair.
