It's hard to believe, but Thunderbirds will have it's 50th anniversary this year.

The children's classic TV series with the creepy marionettes and the super-cool theme tune will be blasting off (groan) on TV in 2015.

Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike will lead the cast as Lady Penelope while pranking extraordinaire and star of Channel 4's Fonejacker, Kayvan Novak, will play the role of Brains.

The TV series, which is being animated by Weta Workshop of Lord of the Rings fame, will be broadcast on ITV at some stage in the new year.

The creators have said that the old marionettes and visible strings are a thing of the past and will feature state-of-the-art CGI mixed with live-action sets.

As far as remakes of Gerry Anderson TV shows go, we'd also like to see a remake of Captain Scarlet. Those weird-ass Mysterons freaked us out as children.

Prepare to hear this a lot more...
