Although it doesn't tell us all that much about the series or what to expect, it's more than we've seen since the series was first announced way back in 2015.

There's still no official word on a release date either for Star Trek: Discovery, but the fact that an official image has made its way online means that a trailer can't be far behind. The image below showcases Captain Philippa Georgiou, played by Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon star Michelle Yeoh, and Lt. Michael Burnham, played by The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green.

Yes, her name is Michael and that's a guy's name. It's also the 23rd century and, y'know, who cares.

So, what can we take from all this? Well, for one, note the old-school '60s communicator - that's the flip-phone thing - and the tricorder on her belt. As we already know, Discovery is set about ten years before the events of the original series, so the tricoder / communicator combo makes sense.

Other than that, there's not a lot we can gather. According to EW, the scene was filmed in Jordan but there's no word on which planet it's doubling for. Our guess? Probably Vulcan, as James Frain is set to play Ambassador Sarek, Spock's father.

Yes, we're going that far with this analysis.
