Twin Peaks was, at the height of its popularity, a worldwide phenomenon. Even to this day, it is synonymous with 90's TV, good coffee and backward talking. Not only that, David Lynch - a respected film director and auteur - taking the leap into television was seen by many as a complete step back. Of course, nowadays, the idea of an established director turning to television isn't so far-fetched. But in 1990, it most definitely was.

Here's what the cast of Twin Peaks have been up to since Laura Palmer kicked the bucket...

KYLE MACHLACHLAN - 'Special Agent Dale Cooper'

His first film was David Lynch's much-maligned adaptation of the sci-fi classic Dune. MacLachlan's worked extensively with Lynch, starring in Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks (obviously) and the feature follow-up, Fire Walk With Me. Since Twin Peaks, MacLachlan's starred in Sex & The City, Portlandia, How I Met Your Mother and even turned up in The Good Wife in a character we swear was based on Dale Cooper.

MICHAEL ONTKEAN - 'Sherrif Harry S. Truman'

Playing Dale Cooper's sidekick, Sherrif Truman was the solid, dependable cop to Cooper's highly-scientific, often batshit Fed. Ontkean recently turned up alongside George Clooney in 2011's Oscar-winning The Descendants.

MADCHEN AMICK - 'Shelly Johnson'

Playing the cute waitress who's married to a complete douche, Madchen Amick's since gone on to star in Californication alongside David Duchovny, Damages alongside Glenn Close. She's currently in so-bad-it's-good Witches of East End alongside Julia Ormond. Yeah, that's right - your one from Sabrina.

DANA ASHBROOK - 'Bobby Briggs'

The son of Major Briggs - our favourite character - Bobby Briggs was a troubled youth who got into some bad stuff. Ashbrook had a guest-starring role in that other TV classic, Dawson's Creek.

LARA FLYNN BOYLE - 'Donna Hayward'

Lara Flynn Boyle's career has seen several ups and downs. Most recently, she turned up in Hansel & Gretel Get Baked. Yes, that's a real film.

SHERILYN FENN - 'Audrey Horne'

Very much the femme fatale of the TV series, Audrey Horne was the stand-out female character of the series after Laura Palmer. Most recently, Sherilyn Fenn has turned up in Ray Donovan alongside Liev Schrieber.

PEGGY LIPTON - 'Norma Jennings'

Did you know that Peggy Lipton was married to Quincy Jones? Did you also know that her daughter is Rashida Jones? When you know this fact, it's inescapable to look at Rashida Jones without thinking of her mother at that age. It's creepy how similar they look.

JAMES MARSHALL - 'James Hurley'

If you're wondering why you haven't seen James Marshall in anything since the 1990's, it's because he was - according to WIkipedia - very, very sick. The actor was on medication that caused so many side effects that his entire colon was removed. Ick. Since Twin Peaks, Marshall has turned up in a number of TV movies.
