As we edge closer to Stranger Things' second season, we're starting to see a few details slip out from the set.

While the Superbowl trailer gave us our first proper look at the new season, a report by EW has given us a deluge of information on what to expect.

Obviously, if you want to go into Stranger Things' second season completely blind, it's best to turn away now as it's spoilers galore from here on out.

Still here? OK, great.

So, as we already know, the new season picks up one year after the events of the first season. In fact, the opening episode of the new season takes place on Halloween - hence why we saw the kids all dressed up as Ghostbusters. Will Byers is now trying to put his time in the Upside Down behind him, however he's still seeing visions and creatures from his time there and isn't sure if they're real or just in his mind. Matt Duffer, the series co-creator, describes it as Will Byers "having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder."

Will's mother, Joyce (Winona Ryder) is trying to return things to normal for Will and Jonathan and she's even dating an old high-school flame - which is where Samwise Gamgee Sean Astin comes in. Hopper is on a similar tack, where he's either covering up or lying about the events from the last season, such as keeping the circumstances of Barb's death a secret.

There's a number of newcomers this season, which will definitely make for some interesting moments. One of them in particular is Paul Reiser, best known to audiences from either Mad About You, Beverly Hills Cop or Aliens. He'll play Dr. Owens, who's taken over the labs in Hawkins. The report by EW describes him as "seemingly friendly", so we're guessing he's nice but eventually turns evil. The two other newcomers are Australian actor Dacre Montgomery and child actor Sadie Sink, who'll be playing Billy and Max respectively.

By all accounts, it appears as though Billy will be one of the major human villains of the series. According to Matt Duffer, "Stephen King always has really great human villains. The evil in the real world is often as bad or worse than the supernatural evil, so we wanted to introduce a character like that." As for the kids, there's not all that much to tell. We've already seen that Eleven has some kind of Ripley curly bob thing going on and, according to EW's report, Dustin is getting a type of polliwog-creature friend that may have come over from the Upside Down.

Put all of these together and it looks like Stranger Things' second season has got more than enough to go on. The introduction of new characters is definitely welcome, and it looks like there's a lot going on this season that'll make it distinct from the last one.

What do you make of it all? Is there enough here to get you yo come back for the second season? Let us know in the comments!
