Celebrated actor Reg E. Cathey, who starred in Netflix's House Of Cards and HBO's The Wire, passed away last night at the age of 59.
In a statement from Netflix, they praised Cathey as "the kindest man, the most giving actor, a true gentlemen," whilst his former colleagues on HBO's The Wire and House Of Cards paid tribute on Twitter.
Beau Willimon, who was the showrunner for House Of Cards, described Cathey as "one of a kind," whilst The Wire's David Simon called him "simply one of the most delightful human beings with whom I ever shared some long days on set."
Meanwhile, fellow actors Michael Kelly - who played Stamper on House Of Cards - and Wendell Pierce - who played Bunk on The Wire - offered their thoughts on Cathey.

Cathey appeared in the Gaiety Theatre's performance of The Shawshank Redemption in 2009, where he played the role of Red made famous by Morgan Freeman, and joked that he'd even star in Fair City just to stay in Dublin.
