The Week In Telly: Love/Hate, Game of Thrones and Beyonce reign supreme!
As weeks go, this has been quite a busy one for everyone here in Telly Land! There's been no end of action, what with the Irish Film and Television Awards taking place last Saturday, former film stars taking on rather interesting roles in some upcoming TV pilots, and Threesome's Amy Huberman popping out her babba! So, sit back and relax this fine Saturday evening and let us take you through The Week In Telly...
Things got off to a flying start as Love/Hate swept the board at the IFTAs, where there was a bit of an upset in the Best Entertainment TV category. The IFTA celebrations were swiftly followed by baby joy for nominee and Threesome star Amy Huberman, who gave birth to baby Sadie less than 24 hours after the show! Then, just when you thought life couldn't get any more exciting, Stephen Fry gave a sizzling performance at the BAFTAs and one very popular Home And Away actress announced she'd be returning to the show for it's 25th Anniversary. Crikey!
It was all go from there on in as Sybil and Martin paid homage to Sue Ellen and JR, Emile Hirsch and Holiday Grainger signed up for a very exciting new project, and we discovered Val Kilmer would be starring in a very special episode of Life's Too Short. And then, to top it all off, HBO went and made our Monday by giving us another sneak peek at Game Of Thrones Season 3!
On Tuesday we discovered that Helena Bonham Carter will be giving LiLo a run for her money in a brand new BBC Drama, Doctor Who is doing 3D and the man who gave us Misfits is taking us to Atlantis. Wonder if he'll give his old pal Robert Sheehan a call? We heard Peter Capaldi will be swapping politics for a paintbrush, got some sad news about The Hour, and there was even a chance to see the trailer for Beyonce's Life Is But A Dream.
By Wednesday there was no sign of a mid-week slump as Bruce Willis said sorry to The One Show, Alexander Armstrong gave us his best Brad Pitt, and Mr Maggie Gyllenhaal signed on for a rather popular show on d'telly. David Walliams told the world when Britain's Got Talent will be back and Matthew Goode headed off for The Vatican with Ridley Scott. Sure they'll find a new Pope in no time, so they will.
Love was well in truly in the air on Thursday when we discovered Rupert Grint will be coming back to our screens soon, and we paid homage to TV's most iconic couples. ITV said sorry to Kate Middleton for their little blunder, there was word of another British classic being adapted for American screens, and we got our first peek at Lacey Turner, aka Stacey off EastEnders, in her next big small screen role.
And finally Friday got off to a serious start as Corrie's Kevin, aka Michael Le Vall had some rather grave charges brought against him. On a lighter note, we welcomed Gossip Girl to the Netflix family, found out when everyone's favourite cannibal will be slithering on to the small screen, discovered Simon Cowell's "XFactor of food" and got our first peek at Beyonce's very special interview on Oprah's Next Chapter, which just so happens to be airing in the USA tonight.
Until next time... xoxo
