We were as hooked on The Sinner as the next person and Jessica Biel played a blinder in her role as Cora Tannetti - earning herself a Golden Globe nomination for her performance - but is there really a need for a second season?
It follows the story of a young mother (Biel) who inexplicably stabs a stranger to death while at the beach with her family one day. A sympathetic detective (Bill Pullman) gets pulled into the case and becomes obsessed with discovering why she did it.
The story wrapped up without any cliffhangers as it was only ever meant to be a one-off series, however, as with any show that is even moderately successful these days, they have decided to drag out the story further with a second season commissioned by the USA Network (it was shown on Netflix over here).
The good news though is that they seem to thankfully be done with Cora's story and will mainly focus on Bill Pullman's character.
The synopsis reads: "In the wake of the Cora Tannetti case, Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) is called back to his hometown in distant rural New York to assess a disturbing new crime: an 11-year-old boy's horrific double-homicide & his seemingly inexplicable motive.
"As Ambrose comes to realise there's nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, his investigation leads him straight into the hidden darkness of his hometown and pitting him against those who'll stop at nothing to protect its secrets."
Doesn't look like Jessica Biel will appear on the show at all then... although she will still be involved as a producer.
