No, this is not a joke. This is apparently happening.

It's been reported that Limerick's finest since Wille O'Dea, the Rubberbandits, are headed back to our TV screens in the near future.

RTE has apparently commissioned Blindboy and Mr. Chrome for a one-off special on... wait for it... the 1916 Rising. Yes, really.

The comedy duo were previously seen on RTE's Republic of Telly, however they've been more or less off our screens since then.

Blindboy has a weekly segment on friends of the site and 2015 Erics' winners Chris & Ciara on 2FM whilst Mr. Chrome, we guess, is off doing something else.

The 1916 special will focus on weird events that happened during the Rising, why it happened - all blended with their unique comedic sensibilities.

Rumour has it that if the show does well, RTE will look into commissioning a full series from the duo. We'd even speculate that the Rubberbandits show could replacing Republic of Telly as RTE's flagship comedy show.
