The supernatural series largely divided viewers, but it would seem The OA was popular enough to get the green light for a new season.

The show is a Netflix original starring Brit Marling, who co-created the show with director Zal Batmanglij. It focusses on Prairie Johnson, a missing blind girl who returns to the community she grew up in with her sight restored.

Emory Cohen, Scott Wilson, Phyllis Smith, Alice Krige and Patrick Gibson also starred.

During a press event held in New York, Batmanglij revealed he and Marling have yet to begin working on the next season. However, he was very excited about returning to Netflix for a new installment.

One of the major criticisms the show received was that the season one finale left too many questions unanswered. In response, Marling and Batmanglij have promised that answers will be provided.

In an interview with TheWrap following the show’s debut, Batmanglij teased that he and Marling had a plan for the series to continue, should it be picked up for more episodes, saying: “Brit and I worked very hard to make sure we weren’t in a place where we had to figure out the story if it needed to continue. We did a lot of that hard work in the years before we even ever pitched it to anybody.”
