You know the drill, text your name followed by your answer to Late to 55.... and yeah we can't remember the number. You then sit up until the end patiently waiting for your phone to ring so Ryan Tubridy can give you your 20 grand, and then curse the TV when Brid from Clonakilty takes your prize.

It seems that some hard core Late Late Show fans are starting to notice a bit of a pattern with the winners recently however, and have got in touch with RTE to say as much. The Herald managed to scoop copies of the complaints under the Freedom of Information Act and it revealed that some viewers have complained that the winners seem to always be from Munster.

The final show saw 50 grand handed out to five different winners, with three of them haling from the South of Ireland. One complaint stated; "Does Ireland comprise of six counties, whose population is less than that of the Dublin area?"

RTE have denied that there is any preference between provinces, and while they said they do not hold onto the details of the winners, a spokesperson did explain how the winners are chosen stating that there is a "strict and audited process in place".

The statement read; "RTE competition winners are selected completely at random using a software programme.

"Each entry is assigned a record number and winners are selected entirely at random using a unique integer generator."

It was also pointed out that Late Late Show staff usually don't know where people are from until they are on phone with Ryan.

So there you have it folks, nothing dodgy going on, it's our own pesky bad luck that we aren't winning.

All's fair in love and Late Late Show competitions it seems.
