After ten weeks of baking, drama and a shed load of innuendo, The Great British Bake Off crowned their winner last night as bookmakers favourite Nadiya Jamir Hussain deservedly won the title.

It was a great night for Nadiya but also for the show itself which managed to hit 13.4 million viewers, making it the most watched show of the year so far in the UK.

Charlotte Moore, the controller of BBC One, said: "Event television at its best! The dramatic and emotional final of The Great British Bake Off rose to the occasion and brought the nation together on BBC One to become the most watched TV show of the year with 13.4 million viewers, and a peak audience of 14.5 million, smashing last year's final. Congratulations Nadiya and the Bake Off team!"

So that's it for another year of Bake Off, but just in case you are suffering any withdrawal symptoms, rest assured that the The Great Irish Bake Off is just around the corner.
