The Apprentice lost its first female candidate of the series last night as Siobhan Smith was sent packing, not before she was part of one hell of an awkward hug however.

Those who watched last night's episode will have seen the boardroom battle between Siobhan, Joanna Jarjue and Elizabeth McKenna which resulted in Siobhan being fired.

Later then, Liz left the boardroom and came outside to Siobhan where this seriously cringe moment happened...

Oh so awkward.

Speaking to Digital Spy, wedding events manager Siobhan explained the weird hug wasn't intended to be spiteful, simply more professional.

"We'd been in that boardroom, and it's not nice when people start to argue," she said, "obviously we're in the firing line.

"For me, I want to be professional. I can't be fake. Let's shake hands, let's do it in a proper business way."

"I didn't want a hug," she laughed, "I wanted to shake hands because that's how I work!"

Sounds fair enough.

The Apprentice continues next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
