Topping the ratings list at Number 1 is Coronation Street, when on 23rd January viewers watched Steve chase Becky to the airport after learning the truth about Tracy's miscarriage. 715,400 Corrie fans were left reeling when, despite Steve admitting that he made the biggest mistake of his life in believing Tracy, Becky hugged him goodbye and left for her new life in Barbados on the shiftiest looking 'plane' set ITV could get their hands on.
Coming in second is The X Factor Results Show on December 2nd, when 593,800 people watched Tulisa perform on stage (not that it helped her record sales…) and said goodbye to Louis' last remaining boyband, Union J. I doubt Simon Cowell will take much comfort in that.
Taking bronze in the Top 20 is the pilot episode of Dallas, when 541,200 viewers watched the most talked about come-back show ever.
Another soap storyline that had viewers glued to TV3 back in February was the Cameron-Debbie-Andy love affair in Emmerdale. 471,200 viewers watched as Cameron learned the truth from Andy and packed his bags for Jersey, leaving Debbie behind.
Rounding off the Top 5 was a TV3 home production, The Town that Travellers Took Over. In October of this year, 448,800 watched Paul Connolly’s investigation in Rathkeale in Co.Limerick - a town revered by much of Ireland's Traveller community as their spiritual home.
Also making the Top 10 Rating Programmes of 2012 was Britain's Got Talent, which was watched by 411,600 viewers in May. Sports were big for TV3 with both UEFA Champions League and GAA Championship Live making the Top 10, with 409,700 and 368,000 respectively.
Rugby legend Shane Byrne was crowned the winner of Celebrity Come Dine With Me in April, and 365,700 viewers watched him cook up a storm for his guests Pippa O’Connor, Madeline Mulqueen, Holly Sweeny and Michael O'Doherty in the final show of the Celebrity week.
Other home produced programming titles that made the TV3 Top 20 include Ireland’s Bogus Beggars, Following the Traveller's Millions, Ireland’s Dole Cheats, TV3 News @ 5.30 and Take Me Out Ireland.
