Netflix's hit summer show Stranger Things may not officially have got the go ahead from the streaming service yet, but we all know it's only a matter of time, and by all accounts, the Duffer brothers are already planning how it will go.

Matt and Ross Duffer were speaking to IGN this week and gave an indication of what fans could expect from season 2, and from the sounds of it, Stranger Things is going to get even stranger.

"[Season two] is going to feel very different, and I'm sure that a lot of people are going to prefer season one, but I think a lot of people will prefer season two, because I think it's going to be a little darker, and a little weirder," said Matt.

"I think we feel like we have a licence to go a little weirder in this season, so that's been a lot of fun."

The second season will take place in 1984, one year after the events of season one, and it's set to be heavily influenced by the movies of that time.

"1984 was a f**king amazing year, especially the movies that came out in the summer of 1984," said Matt.

"It was an awesome year for cinema, so we're trying, hopefully, to capture a little bit of the magic of those films. Something like Temple of Doom.

"I actually really love Temple of Doom, I love that it gets a little darker and weirder from Raiders.

"It messed up a lot of kids, and I love that about that film - that it really traumatised some children. Not saying that we want to traumatise children, just that we want to get a little darker and weirder."

They also said there may even be more to the story after season two; "We have an ending that we want to get to in a believable way and it's just us figuring out how many episodes and potential seasons we'd need to tell that story," said Matt.

"That's the goal and the hope, and it's really, really difficult. But hopefully we get there."

Here's hoping, although Indiana Jones influences? Sounds awesome and terrible in equal measure. We reckon those Duffer brothers can pull it off though. Now Netflix, could you just confirm season two already?
