Although work may be about to begin on the second season of Making A Murderer, the legal battle to free Steven Avery is already well underway.
In a recent interview with local radio station WIBX 950AM, a close friend of the family and the main figure behind The Steven Avery Project, Curtis Busse, went on to discuss where the case is at and what's in store for the family and Avery himself.
"We’re not even looking for a new trial, we’re actually looking for an exoneration,” explained Busse. “Zellner’s very confident, and Steven is also very confident that it’s not gonna take that much time. And we’re talking months here."
Busse listed off a huge number of legal points during his interview, including phone records, DNA, alibis and much, much more. "They’re going to show that the blood (in Teresa Halbach's RAV4) and the age of the blood, it’s not going to match up between the two.”
Athough Curtis Busse and the Steven Avery Project are not affiliated with Kathleen Zellner or Avery's legal team, the two appear to be echoing one another. As we reported at the beginning of the month, Kathleen Zellner's been pretty vocal on Twitter about how she has an "airtight alibi" for Steven Avery.
However, what was revealed in this latest interview is that Avery is planning to leave Wisconsin once he's exonerated and set free. “Steven wants to spend a little time in Wisconsin just to be with his family and try to celebrate the exoneration,” Busse explained during his interview. “But then he plans to move out of Wisconsin because why would you want to put yourself around that any longer?"
