As the final series of How I Met Your Mother draws to a close, we can now all focus our attention on the spin-off How I Met Your Dad. Yes it's really happening - stop rolling your eyes, it could work. Now the female lead role in the show - who will essentially play the Ted Mosby type character - has been revealed! Greta Gerwig is set to star, produce and potentially co-write the sitcom that has just been given a formal pilot greenlight. Which basically means, it's a goer.

You may know Greta from comedy film Frances Ha, as well as the Arthur remake, and Greenberg with Ben Stiller. She is mostly considered around those Hollywood parts as a bit of an Indie darling. Hmm... will this end up just being New York's answer to New Girl? Hopefully not, as much as we love Zooey Deschanel, one is enough.

Greta's character will be called Sally, and according to deadline, "She is a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life. After breaking up with her husband of less than a year, Sally finds a solid circle of support in her friends and family."

Phew! This sounds NOTHING like New Girl. Ahem....

Here's Greta in Frances Ha...
