There's a saying about fools and money being easily parted, but it's often hard enough for fools and money to come together in the first place.

As we reported last week, the demand for a limited-run of McDonald's szechuan sauce - brought back as part of a promotional deal with TV cartoon series Rick & Morty - caused widespread protests and, in a few instances, public-order arrests by police.

The szechuan sauce came with a promotional poster, which were then put on sale on eBay for upwards of $1,000. This, however, really takes it. Rachel Marie, who lives in Wisconsin, managed to trade one single, solitary packet of the coveted szeuchan sauce for a 2004 Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Aside from some crap-looking alloys, it appears the car is in perfect working order as Rachel deposited said packet and drove off in the car. Here's the Facebook post from earlier this week about the trade.

So, let's recap.

Mildly entertaining TV show makes partnership with global conglomerate after it references obscure food condiment. Global conglomerate makes short of said condiment, fans go nuts and try to get their hands on it. We end up with someone trading a working, driving car for something you'd normally find at the bottom of a bag of greasy food.

We get the world we deserve.
