It's no secret that Peaky Blinders had an insanely popular following both here and in the UK but you might surprised to learn that David Bowie was a massive fan of the BBC series.

The late singer who passed away in January, was such a big fan of the show that he sent a photo to star Cillian Murphy to prove it.

According to the show's creator Steven Knight, Bowie cosplayed as Thomas Shelby and sent the picture to Murphy out of the blue.

‘We’ve had an amazing response from famous people for some reason,” Stephen told Radio Times. ‘[David] sent a photo of himself with razor blades in his cap to Cillian about a year ago."

‘I got in touch with his people who came back straight away and said he was a big, big fan.’

Prior to his death, Bowie made efforts to ensure that they could use his music in the show after he'd gone with a Sony rep sending Knight an advanced copy of Black Star.

‘It seems that his people were keen to establish that we could use it before he died,’ the showrunner said.

Peaky Blinders season three will be back on our screens on May 5th.
