Last night saw all your favourite television stars hit the red carpet in their Sunday best for the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards - the Oscars of the TV world essentially. It's not often we have an Irish representative at it, but thanks to the talented writing of Sharon Horgan, we did.

The actress/comedy writer was nominated alongside Rob Delaney for their hit show 'Castastrophe' in the Best Writing for a Comedy Series category, however, unfortunately she lost out to Aziz Ansari for Master of None (also a great show in fairness).

We've no doubt Sharon got over it pretty fast, helped no doubt by this text below from her daughter who wrote;

Bless her cotton socks.

Sharon has two daughters seven-year-old Amer and 12-year-old Sadhbh, we don't know yet which one wrote the message, but we like her style.

Horgan could find herself back at the Emmys next year, as her new HBO show Divorce, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, debuts shortly. Watch the trailer below;

You can catch the highlights of the Emmy Awards tonight on RTE2.
