Marvel and Netflix have just announced that Rosario Dawson will be joining the cast of Daredevil, the upcoming TV series based on the comic-book. The character was originally played by Ben Affleck, but has now been updated to Charlie Cox, formerly of Boardwalk Empire and, erm, Stardust.

Dawson will play a brilliant young lawyer who works with Daredevil's alter-ego, Matt Murdock, to fight the injustices in Hell's Kitchen in New York. The slated budget is roughly around $300 million - pretty massive for a TV series - and will be the most expensive TV production ever mounted in New York.

Dawson is set to reprise her role in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and most recently starred in Danny Boyle's Trance and indie drama Gimme Shelter. She'll be joined by Vincent D'Onofrio, who'll be playing Wilton 'Kingpin' Fisk - the series' baddie.

Initial thoughts? We hear good things about Agents of SHIELD and Marvel are obviously very serious about branching into TV. Casting heavyweights like Rosario Dawson is a step in the right direction and Netflix have a keen eye for quality content so we're hopeful this will be cool.
