The lead singer of legendary '70s rock outfit Led Zeppelin - Robert Plant - is best known for his musical adventures, but it seems like he's no time for acting whatsoever as the singer revealed he was up for a role in HBO's 'Game Of Thrones'.

In a recent interview with George Stroumboulopoulos, Plant revealed that 'Game Of Thrones' approached him for a role - but just wasn't interested. "I thought I'd ride a horse... I hadn't got time to grow the beard," laughed Plant. By all accounts, it sounds like Plant was more in for a cameo than anything else, as the role he was due to be given hadn't been decided.

However, the singer was more than aware of his role in helping to popularise high fantasy as a number of Led Zeppelin songs featured references to JRR Tolkien's 'Lord Of The Rings', most notably 'Ramble On' and 'Misty Mountain Hop'.

Musical cameos are nothing new, of course, on 'Game Of Thrones'. You already had the likes of Snow Patrol, Mastodon and Sigur Ros turn up for a few cameos here and there and who could forget dear Rat Boy Ed Sheeran in the role of a Lannister soldier who somehow is able to play guitar and sing a song about a story beat that he had absolutely no knowledge of.

Well, less said about that, the better.
