Phil Mitchell better watch out as there is a brand new villain coming to Albert Square and it's none other than nineties hero (yes, HERO) Richard Blackwood.

The actor/comedian/presenter has been pretty much a jack of all trades down the years, presenting 'Select' with Donna Air weekdays on MTV back when MTV actually showed music videos, and even went on to have a hit of his own called 'Mama Who Da Man'. Yep, we all let that happen, we've only ourselves to blame.

Since those days, he's had roles in the likes of Holby City, as well as theatre, including the role of Donkey in the West End production of Shrek the Musical.

Blackwood has the unenviable yet impressive task of making his first ever appearance on EastEnders in its much publicised 30th anniversary live episode. Richard said; "To know my first ever scene will be a live one hopefully means the team believe in me and I won't let them down."

He described the role as 'an amazing opportunity' adding "EastEnders is a show I've grown up watching so to film on Albert Square is something I'll never get used to."

EastEnders Executive Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins added: "Richard Blackwood has always been on our EastEnders wish list - and now the perfect part has come along.

"Richard's an authentic Londoner and a terrific actor, bringing with him warmth, humour and energy which will add so many layers to this 21st Century EastEnders villain. The status quo in the Square is about to be well and truly shaken."

We cannot wait to see what havoc he will cause around Albert Square. Although he will be appearing on the night they are set to reveal Lucy Beale's killer... but surely he won't have anything to do with that, right? Right Richard Blackwood??!
