Recent figures revealing the gender pay gap in BBC salaries have led to the call here for RTE to do the same. Over the weekend, Communications Minister Denis Naughten said he wanted the national broadcaster to reveal the salary of any presenter on €100,000-plus every year, and that this should replace RTE's voluntary publishing of its top 10 salaries every two years.

RTE have responded by revealing the below breakdown of its salaries, and according to Gavin Reilly, political correspondent with Newstalk and Today FM, they will bring forward the release of the highest earners for 2015, and will review pay by gender.

As you can see from below, the average salary for an RTE employee comes in at €57,564 with the highest number of employees (847) earning between €40,000 to €60,000. Although Gavin does add that it's unclear whether these salaries include outside contractors.
