Cinemas always feel bigger on the inside, don't they?

The BBC announced today that Peter Capaldi's premiere outing as the Doctor in the first season 8 episode 'Deep Breath' will be broadcast in select cinemas around the world at the same time it hits TV screens.

'Deep Breath' sees Capaldi take on the mantle of the Doctor following Matt Smith's departure last year, joining Jenna Coleman as current companion Clara Oswald as well as old and new faces. Showrunner Steven Moffat had the following to say about the cinema plans: 'Last November the Doctor didn't just conquer the world on television, he did it in the cinemas too. And like the show-off he is, he can't resist another go - one taste of the silver screen is never enough. On August 23rd the new Doctor will begin his new adventures on BBC One and in cinemas all over the world. Movie-land beware - Capaldi is coming to get you!'

Safe to say he's excited then.

No word yet on which Irish cinemas will get on board, but considering the last Doctor Who cinema event was such a success and was shown in many Irish screens, it's pretty safe to say that if you want to catch Capaldi and co. on the big screen on August 23rd, you'll be able to do so without flying too far.
