Channel 4's new comedy Derry Girls is proving a hit with the show getting a second season renewal after just two episodes.

It's set against the Troubles in early-1990s Northern Ireland and follows the lives of four teenage girls (and the wee English fella) who are navigating through their youth during a time of war and conflict in a sort of Inbetweeners style way.

As is usual with many a TV show, the 'teenagers' are in fact not teenagers at all and are actually played by 20-something-year-olds. No big shock there, but what we can't get over is that Clare, who is easily the most immature of the bunch, is actually played by 31-year-old Nicola Coughlan.

According to her IMDB, Nicola was born on January 9, 1987 in Galway. Seriously, someone tell us what her secret is. Or maybe she's lying about her age like a certain other famous Derry girl we know of...

This is Galway actress Nicola's first major role on television, having previously gained experience on the stage and is a former student of the Oxford School of Drama.
