Last night saw X-Factor back on our screens and, already, there's controversy surrounding this year's competition.

Ryan Lawrie, one of the first auditions who made it through, has now been revealed as having being signed by a Scottish record company and has played in front of 80,000 at a recent concert. What's more, Lawrie even outsold Adele in the singles charts.

That's not a Vamps song, it's a Simon & Garfunkel song. Jesus. Christ. Moving on.

Lawrie played at the Capital FM Summertime Ball this year with a large production behind him. Although his previous success was brought up on the show, it was brushed away when - you guessed it - he started singing. Sure.

As you can imagine, Twitter wasn't too pleased and the show is now being branded as a fix along the lines of Celebrity Big Brother.

So, what do you think? Should the fact that Ryan Lawrie previously had a record deal, outsold Adele in the iTunes charts and played in front of 80,000 people exclude him from joining X-Factor? Let us know in the comments!
