Despite accidentally spoiling the result of this year's show for fans, Prue Leith will be rejoining her fellow judge Paul Hollywood and presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig when 'The Great British Bake Off' returns in 2018.

In a series of tweets announcing the TV ratings for last night's final, which made it the channel's biggest overnight performance in five years, Channel 4 also confirmed that the hosting and judging setup will remain intact for the 2018 edition of the show.

"It’s testament to the phenomenal appeal of The Great British Bake Off that almost nine million people watched Sophie triumph as Channel 4’s first ever Bake Off winner – a fitting finale to the most watched series for young viewers on any channel this year," Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon said in a statement.

"Love Productions, along with Paul, Prue, Noel and Sandi, have served up a showstopper of a series and I’m delighted that they’ll all be back in the tent on Channel 4 next year."

As for how to get involved, willing amateur bakers can apply online until January 7th, 2018. Unfortunately the rules state that you have to be a resident in the UK to get in, but that gives you about two months to make the move should you so wish, which is plenty of time really.
