Sitting down for a good old Netflix binge is one of the gigantic perks of this technology drenched world we now live in, but one thing that sometimes annoys us is that you constantly need to be hooked up to a decent internet connection to stream TV shows and movies. Most of the time, this is fine, but it can rule out watching Netflix while travelling and means you may have to sit through the dreaded 'buffering' at times.

It seems though that the streaming service are now considering resolving this issue, and when asked about offline streaming at the company’s quarterly earnings call on Monday, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said; "We should keep an open mind on all this… as we expand around the world where we see an uneven set of networks, it’s something we should keep an open mind about."

A few months ago however, Hastings had said offline viewing wasn't a priority for the streaming service as it would impact Netflix's licensing agreements. Clearly things are looking more optimistic although nothing has been confirmed yet.

If it did work out, Netflix users would be able to download a movie or TV show onto a device and then have a limited window to watch it.

Amazon already offers Instant Video, which lets you stream videos offline, so it really does sound like a natural next step for Netflix.
