Speculation about Making A Murderer has been rife for quite some time now, as many people are eager to know what happens next for Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery.

The reality, of course, is that the story is literally developing before our eyes and it's clear that even Netflix themselves don't know where the story is going or how it'll end. However, one thing is for certain - the end is drawing in on Making A Murderer and we should have answers pretty soon.

In an interview with USA Today, Netflix's VP of original content, Cindy Holland, offered a status update on where everything is with regards to Making A Murderer's second season. "The story is still ongoing, so you will see new episodes coming sometime this year as this story continues to unfold," said Holland. Still, there is no firm date on exactly when the series will air because the documentary makers - Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi - are still in Manituwoc.

"Laura and Moira are (in Manitowoc) shooting regularly and working on what the right story is to tell in the next set, so we’re deferring to them on when it will be ready."

Holland went on, explaining that "(very) few people inside of Netflix actually know the details of what we’re getting because we’re wanting to keep it really under wraps and it is an ongoing case so we’re trying to be sensitive to that."

As it stands, Brendan Dassey is still in prison after his release was blocked by local prosecutors. A new trial date is expected to be announced soon and, hopefully, will see Dassey released in no time.
