‘My Dad Wrote a Porno’, the sexually explicit British podcast that has become a cult hit audiences at home and across the pond, is heading to TV. A HBO comedy special of the live show is due to land in 2019.

The podcast sees Jamie Morton reading a chapter from the ‘Belinda Blinked’ series of adult novels, written by his real-life father under the pen name Rocky Flintstone. His friends James Cooper and Alice Levine provide commentary.

The books follow the sexual adventures of an enthusiastic 30-something woman called Belinda Blumenthal.

Since it launched in September 2015, ‘My Dad Wrote a Porno’ has amassed in excess of 100 million downloads and become a global word-of-mouth sensation, regularly dominating the Apple iTunes charts. It has attracted several big name fans including Elijah Wood, Daisy Ridley and Michael Sheen, who have all joined the trio to record the special "Footnotes" podcast spinoff.

Its live shows, in which a special "lost chapter" is read out in front of an audience, has toured the world over the past year, selling out in every destination.

Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president, HBO Programming said: "My Dad Wrote a Porno shows the extent of just how embarrassing dads can be, in the best possible way. James, Jamie and Alice transformed a very awkward situation into an undeniably hilarious experience that we’re excited to share with our audience."

Team Porno said: “We’re over the moon and honoured that HBO has decided to help bring Rocky Flintstone’s bad dad-rotica to the world – what are they thinking?! The response to the live show has been incredible so far, so we can’t wait for more people to see it.”

It seems to be a new trend that TV series are being adapted from podcasts, as evidenced from Julia Roberts new series for Prime Video, ‘Homecoming’, being based on one.
