He was a TV icon for generations before disappearing off into the plasticine sunset but now it's been confirmed that Morph will definitely be back on our TV screens in the not too distant future.

A crowd-funded Kickstarter campaign to fund a new series was launched by Aardman Animations just 8 days ago but, thanks to donations from about 1,690 fans, it's already reached it's £75,000 target.

The Bring Back Morph campaign was seeking donations to help produce 12 new one-minute episodes featuring the little clay man, and they weren't waiting too long for pledges of between £1 and £5,000. Aardman's co-founder Peter Lord still can't believe they reached their target a whole 22 days ahead of schedule.

"I had no sense that it might run this fast. There's a lot of affection out there, from a lot of people over a lot of years, because he's been going a long time" he explained. "There are people kind of my age, that watched it with their kids a long time ago and then there are the children and grandchildren of them. A lot of people have come to like him."

The Kickstarter campaign will remain open until November 28th, so who knows how much moolah the little man will bring in by the eh? And to think, those marvellous mala creations of ours could have been worth millions...
