In news just announced in the past hour, Luther is making a return to the BBC for a four-part series next year.

The multi-award winning series, created by Neil Cross, has been off the air since 2015, when Luther was squaring off against a cannibalistic serial killer and ended with him striding off into the distance. By all accounts, that was pretty much it for the series - however, both Cross and Idris Elba have been in regular contact since then.

"In the end, we picked up the phone to some old friends and asked if they’d like to find out what happens next," said Neil Cross in a statement from the BBC. "It turns out, they would. So that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to find out what happens next." According to Elba, "Neil, the BBC and I have been talking about a further season and I am thrilled that we have been able to bring it all together. I look forward to putting the coat back on."

So, the question is, will anyone watch it? Or did the series end on the right note the last time? Let us know in the comments!
