Hi Chris, whatcha upta there?

Joining the cast of Girls in episode 8 of the series (which will premiere on Monday December 3rd on Sky Atlantic HD), Chris O'Dowd’s character Thomas-John is a venture capitalist who likes spinning 'mash-ups' in his spare time. After practising his smoothest lines on newly single Marnie (Allison Williams) and recently unemployed Jessa (Jemima Kirke) while they drown their sorrows in a Brooklyn bar, the unlikely trio end up back at his apartment. You'll never guess what happens next.

Commenting on his time with British co-star Jemima (yep, despite the bastardised accent, she is British), O'Dowd revealed: "I told her some Irish slang. Just the common things. They're not broadcastable."

Speaking about the success of Lena Dunham's Girls, O'Dowd said: "The bottom line is that female writers aren't being given enough opportunities by male producers. The strength of Girls is that it's not just a female voice, it’s a really cool female voice. There's no show like that about men, no piece of great modern writing." Well written it may be, but I still have my reservations.

While things don't go quite according to Thomas-John's plan on their his first meeting with the Girls girls, he will be back in future episodes of Season 1. There's even talk of him making a return for the season 2 opener next January.
