Although writer Alex Garland's pretty much drew a line under Dredd 2, Karl Urban's still more than open to it being a thing.

The Australian actor, who's returning for Star Trek Beyond as 'Bones' McCoy, was quizzed on Dredd 2's status and whether or not he'd be open to bringing Mega-City One to Netflix or Amazon.

His response? Take a look.

For our money, Dredd is one of the most underrated action films of the last ten years. Anyone who read 2000AD back in the day will know that director Pete Travis, writer Alex Garland and, of course, Karl Urban all perfectly nailed that gritty tone in the comics. What's more, the film performed reasonably well at the box-office.

However, because it was R-rated, many believed and held it up as an example as to why R-rated comic book films never work. Of course, we all know that's bullsh*t as Deadpool is currently on track to be one of the most profitable comic book films of all time.

On-demand television might be a much better fit for Dredd than a regular cinematic release. For one, its fans are more savvy and more willing to watch it if there's an easier option. Plus, the kind of promotion that Netflix or Amazon can put behind the film is powerful and it'll even draw even casual fans.

Think about it - did anyone really know anything about the original House of Cards before Netflix? Of course they didn't. The same could be said here for Dredd. What's more, it doesn't even need a huge budget behind it. Just get Alex Garland, Pete Travis and Karl Urban in a room together and they'll come back with some cracking stories.
