Conan O'Brien
must be having a coronary, because it looks as though Jimmy Fallon will be taking over The Tonight Show when Jay Leno's contract expires in 2014. Leno leaves the show after 22 years, having taken the reigns from Johnny Carson way back in 1992. He'll be making way for the Late Night presenter to put his own stamp on the hugely popular American talk show.

As per The New York Times, the NBC programme will move back to the East Coast, returning home to New York after almost 45 years in California. Word on the street is that they're building a brand new state-of-the-art studio in NBC's 30 Rockefeller Center, where Fallon currently films Late Night.

Leno hasn't said anything about the changeover on air, but a senior executive taking part in the negotiations said "there is no way on earth that this is not going to happen". We're still holding our breath though, suire wasn't it only a few years back they tried to swap Jay for Conan, only to reinstate Leno after a disastrous 7 months?

It's funny, because we can still remember the days when the TV channel would change to NBC in the evenings and the ads for great big blocky mobile phones would filter through, in between Jay Leno's antics. Ah sure, it was all part of growing up Irish, right lads?
